Spanish cathedrals are impressive examples of the religious and civil architecture of Spain.

Here I present some curiosities about these impressive structures:

  1. Seville Cathedral is the largest Gothic cathedral in the world and the third largest church after Saint Peter's Basilica in Rome and the Basilica of Our Lady Aparecida in Brazil.
  2. Burgos Cathedral is famous for its impressive Gothic façade, which features more than 200 carved stone figures.
  3. The Santiago de Compostela Cathedral is the final destination of the famous Camino de Santiago and features a spectacular botafumeiro, a huge censer that swings from the roof of the central nave during masses.
  4. Toledo Cathedral boasts an impressive mix of architectural styles, ranging from Romanesque to Gothic, through Mudejar and Renaissance.
  5. The cathedral-mosque of Cordoba is famous for its impressive mosque-cathedral, an impressive example of Islamic and Christian architecture.
  1. Barcelona Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of the Holy Cross and Saint Eulalia, features an impressive Gothic façade and a 14th-century Gothic cloister.
  2. León Cathedral boasts some impressive stained glass windows, which have been described as some of the most beautiful in Europe.
  3. Granada Cathedral, also known as the Royal Chapel, houses the tombs of the Catholic Monarchs, Isabel and Fernando.
  4. The cathedral of Palma de Mallorca has an impressive rose garden that was planted in the 13th century and is still in bloom every spring.
  1. Segovia Cathedral is famous for its impressive bell tower, known as the "cimborrio", which rises 88 meters high and dominates the city's skyline.

 

These are just some curiosities of the Spanish cathedrals, but each of them has its own history and unique characteristics that make them impressive and fascinating to visit.
